Short definition
A cultural group formed in Argentina by Italian immigrants and their descendants from the latter half of the 19th century onward. Recorded as the subject of academic work on the 『イタリア・アルゼンチン的混淆の構築』 (in translation: "construction of an Italian-Argentine mixture") through the practice of drinking Fernet con coca: a UBA undergraduate thesis and a book chapter by CONICET researcher Martín Eynard, 'Andata e ritorno: el fernet con coca y la construcción virtual de una mezcla italoargentina' (a chapter in a 2017 Editorial UOC book; bibliography only checked).

Culture (1)
Scope: Argentina
Note: The UBA thesis treats consumption of Fernet con coca as an object of analysis for 『消費者のアイデンティティ構成』 (in translation: "the construction of consumer identity") linked to musical genre, class, and generational codes. It contrasts the style of 『イタリア人が元々そうしていたようにフェルネットを純粋に、量って飲む(en medida y puro)』 (in translation: "drinking Fernet neat and by measure, as Italians originally did") with Fernet con coca as a symbol of consumption on the urban margins, appearing in lyrics of rock and cumbia villera, a cumbia subgenre from the poorer neighborhoods (villas) of Buenos Aires.
