Reading the bitterness

A comparative ethnobotanical survey of wild edible plants in Italy asked 549 people in 21 regions about the plants they currently gather and consume and how they prepare them. The survey is not a nationally representative random sample, and data for 4 regions came from earlier surveys.

Fernet Branca's official company page states that the product arrived along with the wave of Italian immigration to Argentina, and links the setting of its origin story to Milan. This is the manufacturer's own immigration history, not a survey result showing food habits or preferences across Italy as a whole.
