Reading the bitterness
The Spritz is a Veneto-origin cocktail combining Prosecco, a bitter liqueur, and soda water. The International Bartenders Association (IBA) lists it in the 『New Era』 category and specifies Aperol as the reference brand: its official recipe calls for 90ml Prosecco, 60ml Aperol, and a splash of soda water poured into a wine glass filled with ice, stirred lightly, and garnished with an orange slice. The same page explicitly names Campari, Cynar, and Select as alternatives, placing them side by side in the same category of 『ビター系リキュール』 (in translation: "bitter liqueurs").
Cynar's official manufacturer site gives a ratio of 『プロセッコ3:チナール2:ソーダ1』 (in translation: "3 parts Prosecco, 2 parts Cynar, 1 part soda") for its own Spritz. Aperol's official FAQ likewise gives the Prosecco–Aperol–soda ratio in the order three, two, one under the 『3-2-1法』 (in translation: "3-2-1 method"). The two companies independently give similar ratios. However, neither source describes the strength of bitterness or sensory characteristics of its brand; the connection to the 『ビター系リキュール』 (in translation: "bitter liqueur") classification goes no further than these recipe-ratio descriptions.
