Short definition
A statutory category of spirit drink of Nordic origin, characterized principally by a distillate of caraway or dill seed. Annex I, category 24 of Regulation (EU) 2019/787 sets sensory requirements specific to this category: 『苦味物質が味を明らかに支配してはならず、乾燥エキス分は100ミリリットルあたり1.5グラムを超えてはならない』 (in translation: "the bitter substances shall not obviously dominate the taste; the dry extract content shall not exceed 1,5 grams per 100 millilitres"). It is one of the few examples in EU spirits law that regulates the degree of bitterness itself.
