Composition and content (1)
Cabernet Sauvignon — composition: A field trial over 3 consecutive growing seasons (2006-2008) with 4 regulated-deficit-irrigation (RDI) treatments: IS = control, conventional treatment equivalent to 70% ETc; ED = early deficit irrigation from before veraison; FD = full deficit irrigation from before veraison; and LD = late deficit irrigation from after veraison. Relative to IS, skin anthocyanin concentration (fresh-weight basis) was higher by +18% in ED and +24% in FD, while LD showed no difference. Seed tannin concentration was higher by +3% in ED and +8% in FD (compared with the other 2 treatments), while seed tannin content (per 1 berry) was higher in IS than in FD. Relative to IS, yield decreased by -37% in FD and -18% in ED, while LD had no yield reduction.supported
Scope: A field trial of Cabernet Sauvignon in Washington State, United States, over 3 consecutive growing seasons (2006-2008).
Skin anthocyanin and seed tannin concentrations increased in ED/FD. Yield decreased most in FD.
