Reading the bitterness
The Negroni origin story is widely known through a founding account told by Campari, its manufacturer, on its official website. According to the company's product page, in Florence in 1919, bartender Fosco Scarselli at 「カフェ・カゾーニ」 (Café Casoni) replaced soda water with gin in regular customer Count Camillo Negroni's favorite cocktail, the 「アメリカーノ」 (Americano), at the count's request, and used orange peel instead of lemon as garnish. However, the company itself presents the anecdote in qualified terms, 『is said to have been created』, and the page offers no supporting contemporary records. A separate Campari history page also gives a somewhat simpler account that names the count himself as creator, so details vary even within the same company.
The International Bartenders Association (IBA) lists the Negroni in its 『The Unforgettables(不朽の定番)』 (in translation: "the immortal classic") category. Its official recipe calls for 30ml gin, 30ml 『ビター・カンパリ』 (in translation: "Bitter Campari"), and 30ml sweet red vermouth poured directly into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice, stirred lightly, and garnished with an orange half-moon slice. Campari is named 『Bitter Campari』, marking a bitter liqueur; the official recipe wording itself thus identifies one component as a brand that claims bitterness. The IBA is a private international trade body, so this listing is a de facto industry standard, not a legal regulation.

Note: Gin is not made into an entity, since it does not directly relate to this database's bitterness theme. Vermouth is connected to the existing entity ingredient-vermouth (the subtype 『Sweet Red Vermouth』 is kept within object_text; no new entity is created for it).

Scope: An account placing the origin in Florence, Italy, in 1919. Campari's own official site presents it in qualified terms.
Note: Campari's official site explicitly uses 『is said to have been created』. NIGAMI LAB does not treat the origin story as established fact. The name is spelled 『Camilo Negroni』 on that page (as in the original, with one L rather than Camillo), and that spelling is preserved here.

Scarselli added an orange slice as garnish, rather than the usual lemon twist, and from this moment on, the Negroni was born.』. A separate history page says 『the classic Negroni cocktail, created by Count Camillo Negroni in 1919』, a somewhat different account naming the count himself as creator."
